Facility Updates

July 2024

Beginning in August 2024 we will be open the first 3 Saturdays of the month. These expanded hours will allow us to better serve you and your pets. We are excited to continue growing our practice and provide you with excellent care and services for many years to come.

Thank you for visiting.
We look forward to meeting you soon!

July 2024

We will be closed on Thursday July 4th for the holiday. We wish all of you a Safe and Happy 4th of July.

Helping our pets through fireworks

While many of us enjoy the fireworks displays common on July 4th, our pets typically aren’t among them. The loud and percussive experience of a fireworks display can give many animals high levels of stress and anxiety. Call our office if you need to refill your animal’s existing noise phobia prescription. See the image below for tips on having a Fear Free Fourth.

June 2024

We're excited to celebrate a big milestone this month at Whole Health Veterinary Care - Come join us for our 1 Year Anniversary Celebration during the week of June 17-21, 2024.

We want to express our deepest gratitude to each and every one of you. Your trust and support have been the cornerstone of our success, and we look forward to many more years of serving you and your cherished pets.

We invite you to stop by to:

  • Tour the facility and see a little more "behind the curtain"
  • Pick up a little treat for you and some free samples for your furry friends
  • Get to know our dedicated staff a little better

Our primary goal for this event is to express gratitude to our existing clients. You've been an integral part of our journey, and we want to celebrate this milestone with you!

December 2023

The Maryland Veterinary Medical Association (MDVMA) has informed state veterinarians that cases of canine infectious respiratory disease (CIRD) have been reported in Maryland over the past 2 weeks. We recommend keeping your dog(s) current on their vaccines, especially the Adenovirus type 2 virus, Parainfluenza virus, and Bordetella vaccines. For dogs that travel to areas of the country with Canine Influenza, that are boarded, or go to “doggie daycare” we recommend keeping the Influenza vaccine current as well. At this time, the veterinary community has not identified a causative agent for the outbreak of atypical CIRD, however maintaining current vaccines will keep your pet’s immune system as protected as possible.

When possible, please minimize your dog’s contact with other dogs. Please check with any boarding, daycare, or grooming facilities for their current vaccination requirements. If you are unsure if your pet is vaccinated, you can check your pet portal, email the office at contact@mdvetcare.com, or call the office at (301) 498-8387.

If you suspect your dog is sick with respiratory signs (cough, runny nose or eyes, or difficulty breathing), please isolate them from other dogs (both inside and outside your home). Call us for an appointment. We will then walk you through having your pet evaluated and treated. The veterinary medical associations are still recommending a full work up for any animal presenting with respiratory signs. This includes bloodwork, radiographs (x-rays), cultures, and evaluation for other known respiratory pathogens. This will help us identify any animals with other causes of respiratory disease and treat appropriately.
